IN 1873
The Gillain brothers open a hardware store in Esch-sur-Alzette, which is later taken over by Julius Sichel et Cie. It is the Sichel family, originally from Alsace, who constructs the building located at 5, rue de l'Alzette in Esch, whose ground floor and first floor serve for commercial purposes.
IN 1975
The retail activities of the Sichel hardware store are taken over by SNC Gaston Schwertzer, José Legan and Cie.
IN 1984
Marc Schwertzer and his wife Michèle take over the store.
IN 1991
The successful hardware department closes its doors and is replaced by a new tableware, gifts and furniture department. Over time, 2 branches open at the La Belle-Etoile shopping center and at the City Concorde.
IN 1999
Opening of the current Sichel HOME Headquarters at the Orchimont Center in Howald.
IN 2018
Sichel SA is taken over by Mr. Deitz and Mr. Kieffer; their aim is to create the foundations to ensure the sustainability of the company. They close the store at Belle-Etoile and open a second store at City Concorde.
IN 2019
Thus, Sichel LOFT is born, a new store specialized in Scandinavian and children's furniture on the first floor, while the Sichel GIFT store offers a variety of decorative objects on the ground floor of the Lifestyle Center City Concorde. The showroom at the Sichel HOME head office in Howald remains the largest and most prestigious of the three stores and represents a showcase for the most beautiful furniture brands in the world.
