Pulcina

Pulcina was born from the meeting of three Italian titans: Illy cafes, design master Michele De Lucchi and manufacturer Alessi. If from the outside, Pulcina impresses with its rounded and cut-out shape, it is inside that the true precision work lies. The technology was developed after several years of research with IllyCaffè in order to obtain the best possible coffee. The shape of the water tank, spherical and constricted upwards, has been studied to leave a space where the air is pressurized before the water starts to boil for a purer and more intense taste. The two reservoirs were cut ‘in stairs’: they alternate thicknesses of different materials, suitable for heating and cooling the coffee. Pulcina automatically interrupts the rising coffee at the right time, eliminating the so-called ‘strombolian’ phase of the extraction, which causes the bitter and burnt aftertaste of the coffee. Even the spout, inspired by the spout of chicks, has been specially designed to perfectly cut the drop when pouring. Fun guaranteed!

This version of the Pulcina coffee maker is suitable for induction hobs. It has a double funnel filter that allows you to prepare two types of coffee: a classic espresso, or a filter coffee (or “American”).
