Naviglio

The Naviglio collection by Yabu Pushelberg is made up of curved, linear, terminal elements, lounge chairs and ottomans which together express a visual dialogue between structure and form.

Synthesis is the essence of the project, starting with the name. Indeed, rivers are by definition places of meeting and confluence, of synthesis between commerce and leisure, of human intervention and of contact with nature. This was the starting point for designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg for their first collaboration with B&B Italia.

In the vision of Canadian designers, the base of the seat is a river that defines the space to accommodate a backrest / armrest as sinuous as a stream. Yabu Pushelberg's design establishes a relationship between organic forms and the molding technologies of B&B Italia to create a homogeneous and unambiguous whole.

Like pieces of a puzzle, each shape has been ergonomically designed by the B&B Italia team to arrive at a single cohesive unit. The section of the backrest and the shapes of the seats reveal a delicate balance between polygons and curved shapes, where geometry becomes softness and rigor mingles with comfort. The backrest appears to have a rounded shape, but in reality it is an irregular polygon with rounded edges, a detail that both reassures and surprises.

The padding of the different elements is in polyurethane of different resilience, in order to welcome and support the body in the most correct way. The choice was dictated by the very nature of the object, a direct seat sofa, which has no cushions at the base.

The back of the backrest has a continuous decorative insert, a linear element that further emphasizes the continuity of the form and can be made tone-on-tone or contrasting. Complementing the family, the Yabu Pushelberg studio has designed Naviglio, a small serving table with a transparent glass top that sits near the seat. The slender vertical axis in bronzed nickel is supported by a polished marble base, the shape of which is inspired by a river rock.
